Turning the Tide on PBS Television
Join host, Chef and Advocate Barton Seaver, for an amazing culinary journey. Like every memorable fish tale, Turning the Tide starts with a great story about fish but for this new PBS series, that’s just the beginning. We’ll be cooking and serving it up in the end of each show, but this is not your typical foodie fare – this is cooking Seaver Style. Every episode will be shot on location and will include mouth-watering and achievable recipes, useful tips and unforgettable dinners but Turning the Tide will also feature hands-on adventure with some of the most prominent activists, fisherman and fellow chefs as local guides. Barton will join these environmental gurus in the field to source our ingredients while exploring thought-provoking stories on boats, at local farms, markets and restaurants revealing some amazing solutions for a more sustainable future. The result: an irresistible series with delicious sustainable results. By empowering our audience to care about and understand the issues facing our oceans, we’ll have our fish – and eat it too.

I'm Just Here for Dinner
Sustainability is complicated but food is a language we all understand. Everyone is interested in dinner. Whether for nutrition, food access at all economic levels, the family values of communal meals, or just plain deliciousness, this is a part of daily reality for all of us. And dinner can be a celebration of our choices and the difference we can each make.

An Upcoming Cookbook
Set to publish in Spring of 2011, Barton is currently writing a book of family-friendly economical recipes. Focused on seafood, the recipes run the course of a year introducing the idea that seafood is a seasonal product and can best be enjoyed in its time, both for freshness and for value. Vegetables, however, are the main star as Barton explores with the home cook how to integrate smaller portions of protein into delicious nutrition-packed meals. As Barton says, the fastest way to save the oceans, and ourselves, is to eat more vegetables. He will show you fun and innovative ways to cook some of your favorite seafoods and introduce some new favorites all while creating economical and memorable meals.
